Steps for Setting up Local Help 2021 R1 Electronics

 
The following changes to the admin.xml config file enable the user to open the appropriate product main help scripting help and getting started guide help from the Help menu after installing the help locally. Pressing F1 will open the appropriate product help to its introductory topic. Context-sensitive help is not supported for locally installed help.
 
NOTE: You should save a copy of the admin.xml file before editing the one in the installation’s config folder – just in case you need to restore it.
 

1. Create an Electronics/v211/  folder under the  Help folder in the installation path and unzip the help files from Electronics_v211_Nov23.zip into the /Help/Electronics/v211/ folder.

NOTE: You can put the help files elsewhere under the Help folder but if you do you must change the path for HelpLocalDirectory in admin.xml accordingly.
 

2. Copy the contents from local_help changes for admin_xml.txt and replace the corresponding lines in admin.xml. 

 
NOTE: If you want to make these changes manually edit admin.xml (in the config folder) as highlighted below (assuming that the help files reside in the /Help/Electronics/v211/ folder):

3. Save the admin.xml file and restart Electronics Desktop for the changes to take effect.
4. Selecting the desired product help (HFSS Help HFSS scripting Help Maxwell Getting Started Guides etc.) from the Help menu should now open the corresponding help in your browser. Note that the product Getting Started Guide help will open similar to that shown below. Click Open topic with navigation to open it in the tri-panel view with the Table of Contents.

NOTE: If you want to use the whole help system instead of just the help for one product click File > New delete the default design and then click Help on the Help menu. This opens the full help system and you can search all products and navigate to all documents.
